Alex Hofmann has been ruled out of this weekend's United States Grand Prix with a broken bone in his left hand after a crash with Sylvain Guintoli during the first free practice session today at Laguna Seca.
Tech 3 Yamaha rider Guintoli crashed into the left hand side of Hofmann's Pramac D'Antin Ducati at the top of the Corkscrew ten minutes into the session, sending the pair crashing to the ground.
Hofmann had already been competed with a broken bone in his right hand after a friend accidentally shut it in a car boot on the eve of last weekend's German GP.
He had also been in pain after a blister on his right foot - sustaining while trying to over-compensate for his hand injury at the Sachsenring - turned septic during the week.
